In July 2020 I finished the master program Physician-Clinical investigator (A-KO) at Maastricht University, which is a medical program with clinical research along the side. After that, I started my PhD in the group of Marleen Kok (co-supervised by Hugo Horlings) which focuses on immunotherapy for breast cancer by means of clinical trials and translational research.
My research projects include the MIMOSA-trial (anti-NKG2A plus trastuzumab for HER2-positive breast cancer) and the TONIC-trial (anti-PD1 after immune induction treatment for triple-negative breast cancer). In these trials, we aim to improve the efficacy of immunotherapy by combining it with conventional therapeutic strategies. Besides, we aim to better understand the interaction between the immune system and cancer cells to provide a rationale for novel immunomodulatory strategies.
